Now for something completely different
So its been 10 days since I arrived in America. The plane ride was roughly 30 hours and I didnt sleep the entire time, but instead watched 6 movies and stared at things. I just cant sleep in a chair, its ridiculous, the 6 foot 5 gentleman to my right had no trouble sleeping due to the fact that he boarded the plane shit faced barely able to walk and would collapse into me periodically throughout the trip. I wasnt upset though, I felt pity for the gentle giant with his knees up to his chest In that cage of a middle seat. The best part was when his meal was given to him and with eyes closed coming in and out of consciousness he somehow guided his fork into the dish and most of the time returned it to his mouth with the person to his right starring in horror.
The movies included District 9, The fantastic Mr. Fox, men who stare at goats, Inglorious bastards, Dark Night, and the last one must have been really crappy for me not to remember it. It was a great introduction back to western culture, my favorite of those films was The Fantasic Mr. Fox from my favorite director Wes Anderson who has done The Royal Tennenbaums and the Life Aquatic among others.
Arriving in Washington I boarded a train headed to Baltimore where Michael Bachman picked me up, and so Ive spent the last ten days eating Mikes food and recovering from my jet lag and the cold exasperated by it. How do I feel about America now? Safe, convenient, clean, orderly, categorized, organized. Everything you could ever want and more, more, more, more, more. FANTASTIC!?
I bought a mac and an hd camera and Mike and I are going to make 5 movies in 5 days starting with a short we call lumberman. It may not be what your expecting which is great. Oh yea and what I said in the previous blog about the new site and community building and all that jazz, the gears are in motion, but until im in the bay area Im limited in what I can do. Oh and I subscribed to the New Yorker, its a great magazine. Jab on.
